Natural User Interfaces

Natural User Interface (NUI) is a new term used by designers and developers to refer to user interfaces become invisible and non-invasive to the user. The word “natural” concept is opposed to “artificial” used to describe devices whose operation must be learned and requires adaptation by the user (such as mouse, keyboard and traditional gaming controls with buttons and levers) . A NUI allows the user to sounds, movements, gestures or thoughts that are inherent in and takes the side of the computer’s responsibility to understand these sounds, movements, gestures or thoughts as instructions to be carried out. In the world of natural interfaces no keyboard or mouse, there are emerging technologies such as:

a) Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI): With the computer understands what you think. Yes! Human Telepathy – computer! Some people already talk about Web 5.0 as the Web rapport. Complications? Away “? “A story of fairy tale? No!, With $ 300 you can get the hardware and software there is also free to start working.

b) Recognition of emotions. Have you made gestures to be in front of your computer? “Smile? or to face “what is this?” You know that the human face is capable of doing only 48 different expressions? And the expression on your face reflects your mood! Your next lap-top would know if you read this text is interesting, making people laugh or if you’re sleeping, and could react according to your emotions.

c) Non-verbal communication. Much of human communication does not occur with words. For example: you know what is, or better yet, how does Microsoft Project Natal? Essentially it is technology for motion capture!

During the talk shows and I hope to share with you material (links, references, software) so that later you can put into practice what we see in this session.
